Herbal Essences Naked Volume Shampoo & Conditioner

For some reason, the past few months have been filled with free shampoos and conditioners. The latest batch is from Herbal Essences’ new Naked Volume line and was sent to me because I’m a member of BzzAgent, a new-product tryout group.

As the name suggests, this new line is all about the ingredients it doesn’t contain. According to its web page, these products contains “0% heavy residues, parabens, and dyes” but “will restore 100% of your hair’s natural body and your strands will feel revitalized and refreshed.” The shampoo and conditioner are supposed to leave my hair feeling super-soft.

My hair is naturally on the flat side so that 100% line didn’t impress me. Thankfully, these products exceeded that one claim and delivered more than the expected amount of volume. After one wash, my hair had visibility more life and oomph, qualities that stayed in place as long as I kept using this line. Combing out my hair was also a breeze, even without the use of any kind of serum or hair oil.

But while this product did provide volume and manageability, it didn’t provide much else. My hair didn’t feel softer, it wasn’t any smoother and it wasn’t very shiny. I know that these products makes no claims about the last two qualities but any shampoo and conditioner that I’m going to use on a regular basis needs to bring them to the shower.

This line is also supposed to contain the “revitalizing aromas of grapefruit and mossa mint oil.” While t I definitely noticed a pleasant scent while I was using it, it disappeared as soon as I rinsed out the conditioner.

This isn’t a bad line and if you’re someone whose main concern is volume, it would be a great match for you. It’s also very well priced, coming in at under $7 a bottle.

Will I buy these products: Nope, it’s not for me.

Should you buy these products: Do you want a well-priced, lightweight shampoo and conditioner that delivers visible volume? Then you’ll want to try out the latest from Herbal Essences.

***Just to be 100% clear, I received these products for free but don't worry, that didn't influence my opinion.***

  1. I received this as part of the BzzAgent campaign too! I really loved the scent - a citrus/mint are two of my favourites for a really "clean" smell and I did find that it lingered on my hair while drying. For cleaning, I think it did a decent job, but the conditioner wasn't moisturizing enough for my super colour-treated hair. The soufflé was also a nice bonus to try -- helped me get some of that 'beachy' texture

  2. That's great that the scented lasted for you. I gave the souffle it's own review here: http://stufflindsaybought.blogspot.ca/2014/05/herbal-essences-naked-volume-souffle.html I quite liked it.
