Blinc Mascara

Alright, let’s get back to reviewing some beauty products!

First up, Blinc mascara. I was quite happy to receive a deluxe-sized sample of this product in my fall Luxe Box because it’s something that I've wanted to try for a long time.

What makes Blinc different from most other mascaras out there is that it uses “tubes” to create, “…no-hassle, no-smudge mascara that you can take throughout your day with no re-application.” From Blinc’s website, “Instead of painting your lashes like conventional mascaras, blinc mascara forms tiny no-smudge, water-resistant ‘tubes’ around your lashes. Once applied, these mascara tubes bind to your lashes and cannot run, smudge, clump, or flake, even if you cry or rub your eyes.”

These are some pretty big claims; the type of claims that are usually too good to be true. But in this case, that’s exactly what they are: True.

This mascara really doesn't flake, smudge or even budge. As someone who tends to touch her eyes a lot, I was really wowed with how it really did stay on my lashes and never made its way to my face. I also liked how cleanly it went on, usually with no clumping and never once did I have to deal with “spider lashes” after applying it.

Unfortunately, I was quite unimpressed with the level of volumizing and lengthening that this mascara provided me with.  Even after multiple coats, the volumizing effects were still minimal and the lengthening effects almost non-existent. Yes, this mascara was better than nothing but not by much and the end results were just too natural for my tastes. Thankfully I didn't have any issues with this mascara “straightening” my lashes, like some users have had.

Some people recommended wearing this mascara over one that did add volume and length. I tried this a few times and I would the results were mixed. While the Blinc mascara did always act as a great seal, locking in the other mascara and preventing flaking, applying it over another mascara often resulted in clumping and generally messy looking lashes.

It was also sort of a pain to wash off. While Blinc says that the tubes will “effortlessly” slide off when exposed to warm water and “gentle pressure,” I found that I had to run my fingers repeatedly over my lashes to truly clean this product off.

Would I buy this product: Nope. While it does have some positives aspects, they’re not enough to outweigh the negatives. Plus at $26, I want a product that gives my lashes volume.

Should you buy it: Do you naturally have long lashes that just need a touch of volume? Or do you have really sensitive eyes that can’t stand any flakes of mascara in them? If so, this mascara could be for you. But if what you’re looking for is a product that lengths and/or provides lots of volume, pass on this one.
