Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shimmer Shadow & Liner Review

Sometimes you luck out with a cheap, drugstore purchase and sometimes you don't. Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Shimmer Shadow & Liner unfortunately falls into the latter category. I received this palette for Christmas and while it looks quite pretty, it turned out to be a bit of a dud.

I'm clearly not the only person disappointed in this product as it appears to no longer be available, at least not in the format I have. Physicians Formula now sells an eyeshadow palette that seems very similar to what I have, it just has slightly different packaging and fewer colour options in the palette. Oh, and the new product uses "Extreme" in its name.

Marcelle City Concealer Review

Once upon a time, when I was gainfully employed and didn't have a baby, I use to pick up random drugstore makeup all the time. It was a cheap, cheerful hobby that sometimes led to a fun discovery.

Last month I indulged in that old habit when I picked up a tube of Marcelle City Concealer. While I'm not a Marcelle fan, I was intrigued by this product when I saw it at Shoppers Drug Mart. There was a sample available and much to my surprise, I liked what I saw and felt. When I saw that it was on sale, I knew it was a sign that this product needed to come home with me.

According to Marcelle, this item "instantly conceals dark circles, puffiness and imperfections" thanks to being enriched with vitamins C and E, and its inclusion of bisabolol, which Marcelle says has a "soothing effect" on skin.

My March 2017 Topbox

This month's Topbox is all about tubes. I received seven items in total and each one was in a tube. Unfortunately I didn't get any full-sized products but what I did end up with are items that I not only will use but in a couple cases, are also products that I need. Here's what I got:
  • Bella Aura Skincare Night Cellular Renewal (10 ml)
  • Redken No Blow Dry NBD Just Right Cream For Medium Hair (30 ml)
  • Cake Beauty Desserted Island Supreme Body Mousse (30 ml)
  • Eyeko London Black Magic Mascara (4 ml)
  • Dove Regenerative Nourishment Shampoo (30 ml)
  • Dove Regenerative Nourishment Conditioner (30 ml)
  • Dove Regenerative Nourishment Serum Oil (9 ml)

MaskerAide Spotted! Anti-Blemish Clear Spot Patches Review

I'm always happy to see a Canadian beauty company thriving and growing its product line. MaskerAide, which is based right here in Toronto, recently added to its family with its new Spotted! Anti-Blemish Clear Spot Patches. According to the company, these "anti-blemish clear spot patches help minimize, detoxify and calm those pesky pimples."

Last week, my skin gave me the "opportunity" to test that claim out. With several blemishes of varying severity on my face, I turned to these patches and was quite impressed with the results. Every blemish was decreased in size, height and overall angry-ness. While I don't know if the patches had any true detoxifying impact, they certainly calmed down and minimized my pimples.
In fact, a couple of the smaller ones appeared to have completely disappeared.

Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palettes Review

On Tuesday I wrote a very flattering review of Smashbox's Always On lipstick. I found that this product delivered intense colour, stayed in place and, most importantly of all, improved my appearance. But while Smashbox wowed me that lipstick, I'm unfortunately not finding the same feelings for its new eyeshadow collections.

The promo card that came with my Cover Shot Eye Palettes sample uses the tag line "fierce finish, powerful pigment, beyond blendable." Given my very recent experience with the brand's Always On lipstick, I believed every claim Smashbox was selling me.
