Pupa Vamp! Mascara Review

If you're familiar with this blog, you'll know that there are certain beauty looks that I hate on myself: dewy skin, tight curls and spider lashes. But while I don't like those looks, other people do (well, maybe not tight curls).

Italian brand Pupa's Vamp! Mascara is intended for women who want dramatic spider lashes. Okay, that's not exactly how Pupa puts it. According to the brand, this product "...makes your eyelashes look just as spectacular as fake lashes..." as "Stroke after stroke, volume gets exaggeratedly oversize, for thick, full and ultra dense lashes."

But the result this product delivers is spider lashes. I found that three-four coats of this mascara did transform my lashes, adding length and fullness while shaping them into pointy arachnid legs. They were big, even oversized, and while the clumps (which grew with each coat) kept them from looking truly fake, my lashes did look "exaggerated."

My January 2017 Topbox

My first few weeks in January have been busy ones with visits from family and working on an article for FLARE. But when my first Topbox of 2017 arrived today I knew that I had to make time to show off what I received. Despite being makeup-free, it's a pretty good box that is packed with products that I'll use. Here's what I got:

  • Seche ViteDry Fast Top Coat (3.6 ml)
  • Bella Aura Skincare Gentle Purifying Cleaner (10 ml)
  • MaskerAide Spotted! Anti-Blemish Clear Spot Patches (full size)
  • Garnier Micellar Water (125 ml)
  • Voesh Deluxe Pedicure Virgin Olive Oil Mud Masque (three full-sized packages)

Vaseline Intensive Care Dry Skin Repair Lotion Review

Happy New Year! Let's kick things off with a look at how to deal with one of winter's biggest issues: Dry skin.

One of the best products out there to fight winter-induced dryness is good old-fashioned Vaseline. Unfortunately, Vaseline is disgusting to apply and leaves skin looking and feeling greasy and well, gross. But it does work. Because of that, I had high hopes for Vaseline's Intensive Care Dry Skin Repair Lotion, which claims to leave "your skin deeply moisturized and looking noticeably healthier" while also being "fast-absorbing for a non-greasy feel."

I started using this product (which I believe I received in a bonus Topbox) back in November. Since then, I’ve used it on my elbows, my legs, even my face. But mostly I used it on my very dry feet.

Eyeko Fat Eye Stick Review

When my Eyeko Fat Eye Stick first showed up in my October Topbox, I was a bit intimidated by how big the pencil is. I'm not the best with eyeliner and I imagined myself using this product to draw an unintentionally chunky, amateurish line. But it turned out that despite its size, this pencil is actually really user-friendly.

According to Eyeko, these "intense, glossy eye sticks" have "a long-lasting finish" that can easily be used to create "... an on trend smudgy look." I mostly agree with all of this. While the liner initially smudged easily, letting me create a smokey eye, it quickly settled into my skin and then it didn't budge until I brought out the eye makeup remover.

My December 2016 Topbox

A few months ago, Topbox started emailing subscribers a "spoiler" email that listed the contents of their box. I initially had mixed feelings about this email since part of the fun of subscribing to a service like Topbox is the surprise element. But now I must admit that I love getting this email and finding out what's on its way to me.

However, this month I discovered a downside to these emails. This morning I received my December sneak peek message. It listed off four products, one of which was an eyeshadow made by Studio Makeup. As someone who loves eyeshadows, I was very happy to see that I was getting one. Then, a couple hours later, my Topbox arrived at my house and it contained:
