Glourish and Glamorous Halloween Looks

Halloween weekend is only one week away. What are you going as? I don't have any firm ideas yet, mostly because I don't know if I'm doing anything next weekend (Baby makes planning tricky). But if I do go out, I'll probably just do something kind of crazy with my makeup and wear my shiny purple pants (they don't get out much).

I might take my makeup inspiration from Make Up For Ever's Glam to Ghoul campaign. It features six distinctive looks and while some, like the Sugar Skull, look a little advanced for me, I think I could put together Creature of The Night.

MUFE has helpfully created step-by-step videos for each of its looks, as well as listed the necessary products. Some of these products are from the company's Special Effects line, which is now available on for a limited time.

My October 2016 Topbox

When I received this month's Topbox sneak peek email, I busted out laughing. The first listed item was nail lacquer, an item I could use since on Saturday night, my baby broke a bottle of nail polish all over my bathroom floor (and her naked legs). It was quite the mess but thankfully my Husband and I were able to clean up most of it (though I think we're still going to have to repaint a section of wall and baseboard).

The bottle she broke contained red polish (of course). The email didn't list what colour I was getting so I was hoping that I wouldn't get red, as it's not a colour I generally wear. And perhaps as the universe's way of balancing out Saturday night, I received a colour that not only isn't red but is also one that I actually like.

Almay One Coat Multi-Benefit Mascara Review

Last month Husband and I purchased new contacts from and to my pleasant surprise, each contact package came with a free sample of Almay's One Coat Multi-Benefit mascara. While I'm not a big fan of Almay, I'm always up for trying out a new mascara, especially one that promises almost everything.

According to Almay, the "multi benefit formula delivers..." "massive volume, length, definition" and nourishment thanks to the inclusion of keratin as an ingredient. Often a mascara makes you choose between volume or length so I was pleased to see that this product offered both of those qualities.

Boo Bamboo Strengthening Shampoo and Strengthen & Shine Conditioner Review

My sample tubes of Boo Bamboo Strengthening Shampoo and Boo Bamboo Strengthen and Shine Conditioner only provided me with enough product for three hair washing sessions so if these items need four (or more) uses to work their magic, well, I guess I'll never experience that outcome. Instead, what I did experience were decent though not spectacular results.

According to Boo Bamboo, both of these products contain bamboo extract and "organic proteins" to fight "....dry brittle hair..." The shampoo also contains silica " help strengthen your hair and create brilliant shine." While suitable for all hair types, it's supposedly an extra-good match for dyed hair as, "it gently cleanses without stripping away your colour, leaving you with incredibly soft healthier looking hair."

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Creme Lipstick Review

C502 & C506
Earlier this week I reviewed Make Up For Ever's Water Blend foundation and commented on how its sheerness and lightness make it ideal for makeup newbies. My free bottle of Water Blend was accompanied by two free tubes of Artist Rouge Creme Lipstick, items that, unlike the foundation, I quickly discovered aren't for makeup amateurs.

One lipstick was in Taupe Violet (C502) and the other in Dark Purple (C506). These shades were randomly picked for me and when I first saw them, I was more than a little intimidated because these are some intense colours. But then I thought, "They'll probably look much lighter on my lips."

I was wrong. MUFE boosts that this line's "...high-precision colour is ultra-pigmented and radiant..." and provides "...bold, vivid coverage" in a "silky-smooth, creamy finish." None of this is an exaggeration as these lipsticks are packed with colour and the finish is indeed soft and creamy.
